Camp Sangamon is a unique "unplugged" overnight summer camp for boys ages 9–16, located in the heart of Vermont.
Here, campers embark on self-directed adventures, choosing from activities like hiking, horseback riding, and exploring the natural beauty of the Green Mountains. With no rigid schedules, boys build confidence and independence through hands-on outdoor experiences in a safe, supportive environment.
Hikes & Trips
One of the most popular camp activities, our hiking and tripping program lets campers learn about, explore, and appreciate the great outdoors. Whether we're hiking Vermont's highest mountains or just heading a mile down the trail to a local watering hole to have fun and cool off, there is always something new and interesting for campers to experience. Our trips cater to all abilities and ages, and some of our youngest campers are also our most avid and accomplished hikers.
Riding
The Bar S ranch is one of the only places at a Vermont summer camp where a boy can learn and practice the art of horseback riding. Our certified and experienced instructors work hand in hand with the boys to teach them riding skill from the very basics right up to jumping and dressage. We also take at least one trail ride a day, with two or three staff guiding a group of campers around the our local trails. Safety is always monitored, and Sangamon prides itself on the quality of its riding program.
